Hg2 : The Hedonist

Ornate crystal chandeliers that you might find in Versailles’s Hall of Mirrors glisten above Oriental carpets and mahogany screens. Jaan has been decorated in French colonial chic, which befits the history of the Raffles Beijing Hotel. The restaurant covers the original 1924 dance floor where Chinese leaders used to entertain foreign diplomats and you are still more than likely to run into movie stars or politicians here. The menu focuses on the lighter side of French cuisine, with simple dishes such as grilled sea bream with braised fennel and a fifteen-herb lobster mousse. With high-flying executives and government officials working nearby, Jaan has devised an excellent three-course business lunch menu (RMB 288) that changes weekly. This is also a great way to experience Jaan if you’re feeling credit crunched. In addition, there is a sumptuous High Tea with all the trimmings every day from 2:30pm-5:30pm.
