Hg2 : The Hedonist

As Jamavar takes its name from a traditionally-woven Indian fabric, at a guess it would seem that its moniker is used to symbolise the complex weaving of tastes, flavours and ingredients that go into its dishes. The setting of the restaurant within the Leela Kempinski hotel – from the Jaipuri chandeliers to the soft classical music that tinkers in the background – sets the scene for traditional Indian dining of the highest (and most high-end) order.

Service is slick and confident, while the menu teeters between Northern and Southern Indian: the north is represented by biriyanis, kebabs and other Mughal signatures, while the south spans curries, pancakes and steamed rice cakes. And seating just 60 bums-on-seats, Jamavar lends itself to romantic dining rather than group outings: be sure to book.
