Jerry’s Famous Deli
The most determined of the cafes in Miami, it takes a hurricane warning to make Jerry’s Famous Deli close its doors. During the last warning, the barman waited at the restaurant until the entire population of South Beach had been evacuated before boarding up the windows. He then went surfing.
rnJerry’s is open 24 hours a day and has over 250 choices on the menu, including the American classics; the committed staff are familiar with most of them, so just name your choice. There are also some sinful puddings on display.
rnJerry’s is set in a former ballroom, but now looks like a quintessential diner with red leather booths and a long bar for those on their own. The place is expensive for what it is, but is an interesting all-American dining experience.
rnEven though it’s not flashy, celebrities still sneak in for the occasional pastrami sandwich and soda.
