This po’ boy shop has the right mix of good food and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that area office workers make sure to visit at least once a week. From the outside, Johnny’s looks unassuming, but inside, the tables are crowded and buzz with conversation. The menu, posted over the heads of the short-order cooks, includes po’ boys on crisp French bread, plate lunches, and gumbos-all the top numbers in the New Orleans hit parade of foods. Johnny’s is one of the few places in the tourist-thick section of the French Quarter that still caters to locals. It also serves breakfast.
