Kakao
A wonderful café in Berlin; a chocolate lover’s paradise and calorie counter’s worst nightmare, this café inspired by all things cocoa based would give Willy Wonka a run for his money. Even the interior is good enough to eat: chocolate brown and milky white cushioned wall panels are covered in a treacle of orange light and leather-clad booths provide melting comfort. Look up to the ceiling to find an LED lit world map of choc-producing territories. Whether you have a sweet tooth or not, this stylish interior is difficult to resist. Each week a different chocolate-based drink is created using the gourmet chocolate made on the premises. The house speciality is a nut-fruit bread with olive-oil chocolatespread and their own ‘deadly’ three kinds of chocolate ice cream is sold from March to October. The ‘Isn’t Veld Schokoladen’ shop next door stocks over 300 different types of chocolate imported from France and Italy along with 50 different recipes of their own. More than a quirky curiosity shop, Kakao is a professional chocoholic’s haven.
