Kathmandu
Of all the restaurants and cafés in Bogotá, Kathmandu was the first place to sell hookah in the city. There’s a large selection of different fruit-flavours to puff on, and few customers order food without also requesting a pipe. But the best thing about Kathmandu is the impression that you’re entering a Buddhist temple. A giant gold Buddha sits towards the back, beads and lace embroidery embellishes every doorway, and a rainbow of beautiful cushions are piled-high throughout the bar. Many choose to sit on the floor, although chairs are available if you choose to eat here. The menu itself, meanwhile, offers Middle-Eastern, Indian, Thai, Chinese and Indonesian fare, and the shwarmas are truly delicious. Wander through the maze of rooms until you find a private nook in which to relax in private.
