One of Zürich’s most famous venues, Kaufleuten is a multi-tasking space, home to two bars, two clubs and a restaurant. Our favourite is Kaufleuten Hof, a stylish lounge bar/restaurant hidden in a garage at the back of the building (look for the large disco ball at the garage entrance).

A recent renovation by two renowned fashionistas, Elvira Borbély and Virginia-Clara Maissen, has left it with a playful, hunting-lodge chic interior, with just a hint of Alice in Wonderland quirkiness; plaid walls, rough hewn timber and enormous painted books contrasting with glittering disco balls. A cosmopolitan, 30-something crowd settle into the low tables to drinks, flirt and listen to laid-back Ibiza-style groves.

Kaufleuten’s other bar is the Pelikanbar fumoir. Popular all year round, in summer people flock to the Pelikanbar’s outside tables for daytime coffee and evening drinks.
