Hg2 : The Hedonist

Kempinski Bristol

The ‘Kempi’ hotel holds a special place in many a Berliner’s heart. Destroyed in the war and rebuilt in 1952, it was the first luxury hotel to open after the war and remains a classic, offering spacious, luxurious rooms with marble bathrooms, great views onto the Ku’damm from the restaurant and cafe and all the amenities you could wish for in an upscale hotel of this kind. There are 301 rooms (including 52 suites), all with traditional, quality furnishings – a mix of continental antiques and mod cons. Ongoing renovations have kept the interior up to date; the service is impeccable and there’s a comprehensive spa and health club downstairs. It might have been pipped in the fashion stakes by its sister hotel, the Adlon, but the ‘Kempi’ remains one of the city’s most consistent and opulent places to stay.
