Ketama
This Moroccan hang-out is the perfect antidote to a Moscow winter – as the snow falls, transport yourself to the souk in Marrakech.
rn
rnThe extremely heavy, carved wooden door, actually on Kamergersky Pereulok, opens onto narrow stairs where one must don slippers (footwear is checked at the door and slippers provided – rather an effort, but it’s worth it).
rn
rnGuests are then shown through the low light to sunken booths, with low, carved wooden tables inlaid with copper in traditional North African designs and mounds of cushions to recline into. Two levels of these are built around a tree-like structure, through the centre of which you gain access to the upper-level balconies.
rn
rnThe menu offers a series of Moroccan dishes prepared by chef Vadim Zverev, and once you’ve made your choice, order a mint tea or a glass of wine and sink back into the cushions.
rn
rnWith Moroccan music playing softly, adding to the ambience, you can leave the hustle and bustle of Moscow’s streets and unwind in this wonderful oasis of calm.
