Kill Bill
Now three years old, this homage to Tarantino’s film of the same name moved around the corner to its current location in late 2008 to make way for the inevitable Bakuvian progress of construction at its old site. As one might expect from a bar called Kill Bill, the décor features some Japanese touches – like faux shoji screens – as well as framed stills and posters from the movie. Very effective use is made of the site’s original vaulted ceilings, hung with different sized large balloon lamps. The crowd is bohemian, studenty and kind of off-beat cool and the mood lighting and comfy lounge seating, together with a discreet location that’s just off the beaten Old City track, make this a great place to come for a clandestine rendezvous for cocktails and maybe some of their pretty decent sushi.
