Konzerthaus
This historical site to visit in Berlin is the Konzerthaus, a former Schauspielhaus built by Karl Friedrich between 1818 and 1821, has a great history. It’s where Weber premiered his opera Der Freischütz and Wagner conducted his Flying Dutchman among other glories. The building was destroyed during WWII but reopened as a concert house in 1984 and now holds regular events. There are four reconstructed halls – Great, Small, Werner Otto and Musikclub – and the in-house ‘band’ is the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, formerly known as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, which interprets everything from Monteverdi to Lachenmann. The bistro-bar opens daily at noon and serves a selection of cold and warm dishes.
