Before the Kosybar appeared in 2005, there really wasn’t a funky spot to enjoy a cool beer or refined glass of wine within the walls of the Medina. In other words, this place – more of a restaurant, despite the name, but with a perfectly decent eponymous bar located near the entrance – is what many regular visitors to the Medina have been waiting for: an intimate place where tourists and Moroccans alike can enjoy fine wines, cognacs and even good cigars from the humidor. Pull up a stool at the bar, snuggle into an intimate booth or lounge up on the attractive terrace, which offers a pleasantly lounge-style atmosphere with sofas and low tables, and heat lamps in the colder months. The bar itself is very well stocked with assorted wines, spirits and cognacs – they even have cachaça to make authentic caiprinhas. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday you might even catch some live blues and r&b music.
