La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturel
Just two steps from Saint-Germain market, la Compagnie des Vins Surnaturel stands at the heart of the quintessential Paris neighbourhood. Boasting perhaps the most upmarket take on “wine and cheese” for miles around, this bar oozes Parisian chic as you are welcomed inside by friendly, hospitable staff and the delightful smell of truffles.
This is the perfect destination for a relaxed date, an aperitif before supper or, for the more committed of wine lovers, a chance to work your way through their extensive wine list. La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturel (which roughly translates to ‘Supernatural Wine Company’) is super cosy, warm and comfortable, with low armchairs and sofas perfect to settle down in and taste both the wine (from €6 to €80 – a glass!) and the small plates of food in comfort. The creamy burrata and tartuffo al prosciutto (ham and black truffle) are to be sampled at all costs…
It’s a relatively small and intimate place, so booking is advised (even on weekdays) if you don’t fancy sitting at the bar. That, however, has its perks, as you’ll have a knowledgeable bartender on hand who’s all too happy to discuss the libations.
