La Fama
La Fama is Bogotá’s first sustainable barbeque restaurant, combining a love of meat with the barbeque expertise of America’s Deep South. In short: a meal here is ideal for meat lovers with a conscience.
And there must be a lot of them in the Colombian capital because La Fama has been a runaway success since it opened. The key? Using only the best cuts of meat and cooking them to perfection. The menu is concise, offering a core selection of beef, pork and chicken options, with sharing platters, hamburgers and mouthwatering accompaniments coming in as support. The idea, La Fama claims, is that everyone relaxes, shares and eats with their hands.
The décor supports the relaxed menu, with rough-luxe wooden benches and brick walls. The waiting staff here are dressed in overalls and trucker caps, and beer comes served in tankards, the food in rustic dishes. In keeping with the sustainable ethos in its menu, meanwhile, the restaurant runs partly on solar power and rainwater. All in all, La Fama has a refreshingly earth-conscious spin and a happily flavour-conscious menu.
