La Fontana de Oro
Dating back over 200 years, La Fontana de Oro thankfully retained all of its old charm when it was transformed into another Irish pub in Madrid. The windows at La Fontana de Oro are lined with shelves of dusty bottles, and its walls are covered in old portraits, mirrors and of course, the good old Guinness sign.
Street lamps add some soft light to the rather dark and dusky atmosphere. This place is hugely popular both with tourists and fun-loving locals, and becomes particularly raucous when live bands play Thursday to Saturday at around 11pm. Of course, there’s a TV screen showing all the major sporting events, too, but it doesn’t dominate the bar.
