The roomy and well laid-out La Tramoia is a lovely change from the overrun and overcrowded lunchtime places and coffee bars amidst the hubbub of nearby Place de Catalunya. It is designed to seat large numbers but not to feel overcrowded, with the bar tucked neatly along one edge, so you won’t have an elbow in your ear as you sip on your caffe con leche. For lunch, the menu offers a range of foods but also a variety of sizes. Apart from classic tapas, one can also choose from an array of raciones which are larger sized, slightly more substantial tapas dishes. The chefs can be seen beavering away behind a large glass window so the atmosphere is more restaurant than café like, also a result of the good wine list, but if a coffee and a small dish are all you want, La Tramoia is happy accommodate. Pay particular attention to the enormous blackboards which boast consistently good and always popular salads and daily specials.
