This recently opened modern Italian, a hop, skip and a jump from Liverpool Street Station, if you go the right way, has already made a big impact on the City crowd. But it’s simply too good to just serve the suits. Housed in a shiny glass-fronted ground floor of the site of a spanking new Broadgate office building, it’s been decked out in a very sparse minimalist fashion and is staffed front of house by handsome, efficient, smiley sorts. The wine list has the usual famous Italian names alongside some pleasingly obscure varieties and blends. But it’s the menu overseen by chef-proprietor Francesco Mazzei that steals the show with a combination of comfort, rustic touches and simply grilled meat and fish. Sweet teeth are rewarded with exemplary desserts such as liquorice zabayon & croccantino ice cream.
