Hg2 : The Hedonist

Le Chef

Le Chef is something of an institution among all the places to eat in Beirut. Located next to the picturesque Saint Nicholas steps, and run by jack-of-all-trades maître d’ Charbel (he’ll find you anything from an apartment for rent to a car for sale), Le Chef offers tasty, good-value Lebanese fare in a relaxed and very Lebanese atmosphere.

The open kitchen and low-grade mural on one of the otherwise white walls hardly make for the most salubrious of dining experiences, but it remains enduringly popular. Most Beirut residents who are in the know swear by it and Le Chef is always full with the unlikeliest of characters.
