Hg2 : The Hedonist

Le China

With a cocktail bar that boasts the best Martini’s in town, a restaurant that serves fusion food of the highest order and a club that plays exceptionally cool beats, Le China is fast becoming one of Paris’ hottest spots. Under the same ownership as Le Petit Marche and Chez Janous, the menu is short and modern with strong Asian influences and is meticulously prepared and beautifully presented. Both the restaurant and bar are decorated in a colonial style – the Chinese prints and antique furniture gives the restaurant a distinctly art deco feel whereas the leather chairs and palms lining the dimly lit bar upstairs are more reminiscent of Imperial India. While you can eat upstairs, downstairs is where the real heart of the place lies. Black-clad waitresses sashay across the chequered tiles in time to the jazz and the cocktail bar fills up with bright young things sampling the array of innovative alcoholic concoctions. With drinks, dinner and dancing all under one roof there’s no need to go anywhere else. This might just be the hippest place in Paris.
