Le Jardin
When the sun starts beating down on the dusky rooftops of Marrakech’s Medina, there are few places as picturesque and inviting to escape the heat as Le Jardin. This restaurant, lovingly restored by Kamal Laftimi and designer Anne Favier, is the sister venue of Marrakech’s popular Café des Épices and the Terrasse des Épices.
Found down a small alleyway and housed within a beautiful 17th mansion, Le Jardin serves up refreshing food and drink throughout the day. And though the interior of the restaurant is just as charming, the courtyard is the big draw. Open to the air and populated with shady, verdant trees, it’s a great place to cool off with a glass of fresh, zingy grapefruit juice or some cooling mint tea.
For sustenance, there’s a menu of cold and hot plates at Le Jardin, ranging from marinated sardines and lentil salad to lamb tagine and a salmon and spinach pie. And, if you’re up and about early, its breakfast menu makes for a satisfying start to the day, with plenty of fresh fruit, flaky croissants and strong coffee. Come evening, however, the courtyard transforms into a cultural meeting place, with Le Jardin screening arthouse films under the stars.
