Nestled between three of the city’s best restaurants – Olive Bar & Kitchen, Out of the Blue and Delice – and with a mural out front by Hollywood heavyweight Baz Luhrmann, there’s no denying that Le Sutra is one of the most beautiful boutique hotels in Mumbai.
The guests at Le Sutra are predominantly fashion-forward and artistic, while Olive next door pulls in Bollywood starlets and rich college kids armed with parental credit cards. But forget the gaudy palates of the Maharajah’s Palaces – here, artists, designers and even philosophers have worked in harmony to create a Bombay bolthole that showcases modern Indian art by way of traditional Indian themes.
Each floor is a mood board of different styles that has made the hotel a magnet for creative types and connoisseurs. The rooms are spotless and each unique in its design – the outsized ‘Dyutta’ (gambling) room is particularly quirky and gives guests the chance to sleep on a giant chess board. Thoroughly recommended.
