A suitably tatty cocktail bar for utterly tatty Zeedijk, Lime is easily and often missed by those ambling from brown cafe to coffee shop to red-lit window. But it’s probably the best bet around Nieuwemarkt for those in search of a well poured stiff drink, and makes a pleasant change from the charmingly scruffy old pubs all around it. The interior is modern-ish, and the cocktails are well priced and well served. The DJs can be a tad commercial, but the volume is not overbearing and the staff are welcoming (as are most of the other patrons). It can be depressingly empty if you mis-time your arrival, but gets busier as the night progresses. Worth a visit for at least one sharpener if you fancy a change from most other Red Light District offerings.
