Hg2 : The Hedonist

Little Havana

After Fidel Castro came to power in 1959, thousands of Cubans fled to US shores.

Little Havana is the Cuban capital of Miami, and the street commonly known as Calle Ocho (SW 8th Street) is the place to go and soak up some Cuban culture, drink some strong coffee, and watch the elderly Cubans play chess and puff on a freshly made cigar.

The street does now have a McDonald’s and several other beautifully constructed fast-food establishments that slightly dilute the authenticity of the place, but this is as Cuban as it gets in Miami and here the Cubans are living their American dream.
