Lontra
Built on the site of a former brothel, one of Lisbon’s African clubs Lontra now harbours less seedy activities. The décor is themed accordingly with animal prints, drums and native artefacts spread about the room.
Bands from Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau and other ex-colonies (who still have a strong presence in the city) perform in the main room and regularly bring the house down. The Journeys DJ collective also hosts a popular night on Thursdays. Less intimidating than most African clubs, the appeal is broad-ranging but the mood is always upbeat. Arrive fashionably late to find the party in full swing.
