Low, Slow & Juke

Taking its name from the slow-cooked fare it specialises in and classic American bars it takes inspiration from, Low, Slow & Juke aims to transport diners to the soulful Southern States: think gigantic platters of hand-rubbed, home-smoked and 16-hour slow-cooked meats, with flavour-packed, house-made sauces like chipotle mayo and South Carolina BBQ. Testament to its authenticity, Josh Sugarman, judge of Austin’s Super Bowl Rib-Off, described the food here as, “the closest taste in the UK to true Texan barbecue”. Add to this, sides like smoky pit beans, smoked bacon blue cheese fries and red cabbage slaw, and you’ve got yourself an all-American feast. Finish with the eatery’s most talked about dessert, chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and maple-glazed bacon.

Despite meat being king here, the drinks haven’t taken a backseat. Craft beers and ales are on offer alongside suitably smoky craft cocktails, like a smoked cinnamon old fashioned, and a honey and basil smoked daiquiri. As you’d expect, the juke’s high-ceilinged interior is styled on the classic Southern States bar it’s named after, with the addition of industrial elements like copper piping, fluorescent jukebox-style lighting and hanging lanterns, not to forget the soundtrack of American soul, which completes the Southern States vibe Low, Slow & Juke strives for.
