Lucerna Music Bar
One of the best places for live music in Prague’s city centre, Lucerna is housed in an old theatre that exudes a simple, basic charm. Spread over two floors, at the entrance to a large shopping arcade on a street leading from Wenceslas Square, this venue plays host to regular, decent bands (home-grown and international), and there are also lively 1980s and ’90s parties at weekends.
It’s cheap and cheerful, so expect basic tables, school chairs and plastic beer mugs – the young Czech market it is geared to certainly don’t seem to mind. There are bars on both floors with a stage dominating the ground level, while upstairs the atmosphere is a little more relaxed.
This is a great choice if an interesting band is playing, or if you simply want to enjoy a frugal night out in the centre of town.
