Made in China

Perhaps the most decadent place to eat Peking duck in town; if you only try it once then try it at Made in China. Upon entering you will discover a stylized modern teahouse where you can sip your Oolong before or after your meal. Designed by the Japanese firm Super Potato, the restaurant’s glass-encased open kitchens create a vibrant ambience as chefs roast the ducks in wood-burning ovens, knead dough for fresh dumplings and noodles, and fry vegetables at the wok stations. Made in China is always full of well-heeled tourists and prominent Beijingers so make sure to book a few days in advance (including your duck) and be sure to request a table near the action. Accompany your kaoya with Chinese classics such as Yunnan ham and Beggars’ Chicken, a Hangzhou specialty that is made by wrapping the bird in lotus leaves and baking it in rice wine-infused mud.
