Hg2 : The Hedonist

If you’ve tried and loved the famous brunch at Café Oliver, then you’ll want to head to their sister restaurant, Madrilia, for some high-quality Italian cuisine. The team behind the venture went to Antonio Carluccio for advice, and his influence shows.

This is a stylish restaurant, with a contemporary décor comprising dark woods, greys and blacks. The glass front of the restaurant looks out onto a bustling junction on the edge of Chueca, making for a sunny and airy lunch date, while the gentle lighting and candles at the tables mean an intimate and romantic dining experience.

From the starters, the Ensalada Madrilia comes highly recommended, while any of the pastas from the mains should be tried and savoured – although some come a bit heavy on the garlic. The clientele is young and informal, and this being Chueca, a healthy mix of gay and straight.
