Maison Carrier

After a hard day on the slopes, heading out to one of the restaurants in Chamonix might seem like an effort, but if you’re staying at the four-star Albert 1er hotel, there’s no need to go outside: Maison Carrier is right there to offer a comfortable, classy and traditional affair.

Food is hearty and earthy, with a menu that sticks to down-to-earth fare with fancy flourishes; dishes include cod braised with chard and smoked bacon, roasted rack of lamb with sautéed potatoes, terrine of chicken livers with blueberry jam, cranberries and pickled mushrooms, lobster salad with parmesan and vinaigrette dressing and dessert of chocolate and honey madeleines.

Meanwhile, the wine list features a great selection of regional bottles from local vineyards in the Aosta Valley in Italy and the Le Valais region of Switzerland. And with everything housed in a typical Savoy chalet, Maison Carrier is nothing if not relaxed.
