Mambo Italiano has taken over from what used to be Cuba Bar. Still oozing a sultry Cuban vibe, it now serves up a very reasonably-priced and very tasty Italian menu. In summer you can sit on the large outdoor terrace to indulge, otherwise head up the grand staircase to where the party happens at weekends – entrance is free before 9pm and 2,000 KZT after. A large stage sets the tone, with live music from the resident Cuban and Italian bands, Latino Guns and Sin Frontera, every Friday and Saturday night from 10pm. Revel in the amazing sounds and atmosphere and dance ’til you drop. Those who are able to resist the Latino beats can take a seat at one of the tables around the edge of the dance floor. For those who don’t know their merengue from their salsa, Mambo Italiano runs dance lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm with Cuban dancer Soraya – be sure to call ahead and book.
