Nightlife options and bars in Vegas tend to fall into one of three categories: sprawling nightclubs populated by barely-clad girls and their frat-boy counterparts, casino bars (read hooker central), and off-Strip dive bars. That’s why this glamorous, glassed-in spot, perched on the 23rd-floor of the Mandarin Oriental, is such a gem. The servers wear classy black satin numbers and the cocktails come with a pedigree (mixologist Charlotte Voisey collaborated on the menu). Try the cucumber and cilantro margarita or the golden leaf Martini-made with muddled mandarin, pineapple, lime and Hendrick’s gin-and skip the ho-hum appetisers in favour of the (free) spicy cashews and pesto olives. The bar is at its buzziest on weekend nights, and the crowd gets younger as the night goes on. Make a reservation if you want to nab one of the plush velvet banquettes or the low, lacquered tables with Strip views.
