Mården has a lengthy drinks list, and a reputation for making cocktails very well indeed. House specials include the Rhubarb (Cuban rum, rhubarb purée, vanilla, lemon) and the Absolutely Crushed (Absolut Citron, kumquats and passion fruit). As a result, Mården is always an attractive proposition. It’s located just a few minutes from Storstad, and is most popular at weekends for start-of-the-evening drinks, before the crowd moves on in search of somewhere to dance. The atmosphere, décor and service are resolutely unpretentious. The building was previously a pharmacy and follows the Swedish habit of naming pharmacies after animals – in this case, a pine martin. If too many lemongrass martinis or frozen daiquiris reduce your desire to walk through Vasastan in search of dinner, Mården’s continental cuisine is delicious. If you don’t want a full meal, you can always snack from the excellent bar menu.
