Hg2 : The Hedonist

There’s something of the late 1990s about Market, which makes it perfect when you’re not after anything too thrustingly youthful and trendy. If you’re a fan of Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s New York restaurants, you’ll be right at home with the chilled soundtrack and blond-toned, minimal decor. There are dishes weird and wonderful on the Asian fusion menu, such as a pizza with raw tuna and wasabi cream; you can’t go wrong with the Black Plate starter of spring rolls, dumplings, sushi and grilled quail, each with its own sauce, to share between two. A short, up-to-date cocktail list offers kumquat mojitos and cucumber martinis. The weekend brunch menu offers both eggs Benedict and papaya salad with squid and cashew nuts; and you’re only a short walk from the Champs Elysées and Rue St-Honoré.
