This is the closest that Stockholm gets to an outdoor market. During the week the stalls sell fresh fruit and flowers, while on Sundays these are replaced by antiques, books and general bric-à-brac. Overshadowed by the PUB department store and the Concert Hall, it is a good place to visit on a warm summer’s day.

Located just off Östermalmstorg, this is one of Stockholm’s gems. A covered food hall which abounds with the most tempting-looking fresh produce – meat, fish, vegetables and many more little luxuries, which form the basis for many a sophisticated dinner party.
The market houses two delightful restaurants, Lisa Elmqvist and Gerda’s (see Restaurants), which make ideal lunch spots; you just know the food is going to be fresh.
