Hg2 : The Hedonist

Martini Bar

As you might imagine, the bar in the Cellars-Hohenort Hotel, known to some as the “Constantia Mount Nelson”, is among the most stylish and sophisticated places to drink in Cape Town, with lots of elegant seating areas in a large, pale space, and catering to a grown up crowd only. However, unlike the rooms, Martini Bar has a lively modern edge, without looking or feeling cold, or plastic, or limited to straight lines and cold hard edges. Circular patterns, in fact, are used extensively, so in part you feel like you’re hanging amidst the coloured balls that float around the inside of a lava lamp-polka dots, chic stripes, and some flower-bespeckled sofas, armchairs, cushions and barstools, making this at least look like a truly fun place to drink. But the real reason your head may start to spin is the drinks menu featuring Cape Town’s longest list of martinis -the hardest part of your day may be choosing from amongst 52 different types, not to mention the additional option of 228 cocktails and some exceptional wines, too. At this rate, you’ll be shaken and stirred.
