The Meridian Hotel (no relation to Le Méridien group) has enjoyed surely one of the best locations imaginable since its opening in 2003. Indeed, it has become such a landmark that it is oft-quoted in directions when tryingrnto locate somewhere in the maze-like streets of the Old City. It is something of a shame, therefore, that for a five-star hotel the rooms feel a little, well, four-star. Space is definitely not an issue – especially in the suites – but therndécor has seen better days and if the Meridian is to keep up with the new openings over the next few years, then one can only hope that the renovations that are being discussed as we go to press take place sooner rather than later. The hotel has good facilities, however, and its proximity to the excellent restaurants and sights of the Old City is a huge bonus.
