Mezzo
Apparently this is one of the Italian restaurants in Rome which is inspired by London’s restaurant of the same name, in reality it bears very little resemblance to the English Mezzo. First, because the food is actually rather fantastic, ranging from wood-fired pizza to tasty grilled meats in generous portions, which you wouldn’t expect from the average waistline of the clientele. Like most places in the ‘alta borghese‘ Parioli district, waitresses look like part-time models or actresses, as do many of the diners. Dress up, preferably in tight white jeans or chinos, and you’ll fit in a treat. When it’s busy, the kitchen is fairly slow, but the food is worth the wait and the atmosphere distracting enough for you not to notice. In the warmer months outside tables under the vines add to the all-round aesthetic appeal. Youthful and modish, but with a convincing generation span of cool cats.
