Located atop the towering Marmara Pera Hotel, one of Istanbul’s best Mediterranean restaurants, Mikla, boasts some of the best birds-eye views in the city. The windows that span the bar area face the Bosphorus and Asian shore, while the restaurant shares this view along with that of the Golden Horn from its additional facade.
rnThe interior is simple, but refined and the dark wood panelling manages to absorb noise and movement, allowing the space to remain intimate even when crowded. This is a classy establishment where people dress to impress and the trend is to start the evening with a pre-dinner drink at the bar, followed by a drawn-out, relaxed three course meal.
rnThe cuisine is Mediterranean with a modern Istanbul accent enhanced by Scandinavian simplicity. A varied menu and wine list are more than ample and reflect an internationally influenced standard. The starters are excellent and the vast array of vegetable side dishes are key to a good meal.
rnIn the summer there is additional restaurant seating and drinking space on the terrace as well as access during the day to a roof-top pool.
