Mildred’s Temple Kitchen
Of all the restaurants in Toronto, locals are trekking to Mildred’s for nutritious, beautifully-presented comfort food in a recently-created enclave – they’re coming out of curiosity and returning for a repeat experience.
Featuring sumptuous salads, inventive pastas and meat and fish dishes that are anointed with flavours from around the world, the seasonal menu is never predictable and always unusual (the roast chicken biryani and the MTK burger are dishes with a devout following). The light space is a huge draw: split-level with an open kitchen in the centre, high ceilings and an entire wall of glass. The lively ambience inside completely distracts from any passing trains, too, and the only letdown is the laissez-faire attitude of the young staff.
