Hip-hop, reggae, dancehall, old school, soul and funk predominate at Milk, making this one of the most varied nightclubs in San Francisco. Milk is the type of no-frills dance club that attracts a casually hip twenty-something crowd more interested in listening and dancing to great music than posing in designer fashions. There’s something on most nights of the week, with Tuesdays and Thursdays looking especially good. Milk sometimes hosts live music and sushi on Sundays, but check ahead to be sure it’s on. Though entry is free before 9pm, you have to wait until around 10pm for the crowd to show. Expect strong drinks, a low-frills ambiance, and plenty of lively, twenty-something hipsters getting way funky. Check the website for Sunday special events, which can attract a hip local crowd.
