Mogg & Melzer
Berlin meets New York at Mogg & Melzer, a Jewish deli-inspired casual eatery that hearkens back to the Lower East Side of old. Meat-lovers, expats, and sandwich fiends will go wild for the pastrami on rye or the Reuben, which sees smoked meat paired with sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing, and Swiss cheese. Other Jewish staples are available (try the matzoh ball soup and barbecued brisket), as well as coffee and desserts. The décor, which pairs sleek Euro-styling with 1930s Americana, is another special touch from the team of Oskar Melzer and DJ Paul Mogg, who’ve situated the eatery in the building of the old Berlin Jewish girls’ school.
