Momofuku Seiobo

The first Momofuku (which means ‘lucky peach’) restaurant to open outside of New York, Seiobo. Seiobo is the Japanese goddess of the West, and this restaurant certainly lives her immortal shoes.

Despite its impossible-to-pronounce name, reservations at Seiobo are hard to get, since they can only be made online and in advance. Spots in the five-seat bar are on a first come, first serve basis, but are well worth the wait.

Inspired by the bounty of Australian ingredients, the main dining room serves constantly-changing, 15-course tasting menus that bring together Japanese cuisine and Sydney’s diverse food culture. Special attention is paid to sourcing local ingredients, where possible, to create true Japanese-Australian fusion. The bar also serves up all the typical fare, as well as a good list of sake, and drink pairings are also available for true connoisseurs.
