Essentially a fast-food Vietnamese restaurant in Berlin with a relatively small menu and two or three daily specials, Monsieur Vuong is worthy of mention simply because everyone eats here. Table reservations are never taken and it’s not unusual for queues to spill out into the street. But the turnover is fast, making Monsieur Vuong ideal for the young eager to grab a quick meal before heading out to one of the many seriously hip bars within easy walking distance. The hip, young crowd create an atmosphere as vibrant as the bright red interior. Statues of Buddha, incense sticks and white orchids also make for a taste of Asia in downtown Berlin. All-time favourites are the spicy glass noodle Salad Saigon and the homemade Won Ton soup and the range of choices are intentionally limited in order to ensure everything’s really fresh. In a city where cheap Thai and Vietnamese restaurants lurk at every corner, Monsieur Vuong remains the original and the best.
