Montecristo
The roof terrace might be relaxed and intimate, but come midnight the middle floor of Montecristo comes alive and Marrakech’s nightlife begins in earnest. Broadly speaking, this is the place to be for a large percentage of the city’s youth. It’s the floor where the Cuban theme is most pronounced, too – not just not cigars on sale, but Che Guevara posters behind the bars, barmen sporting panamas, tasty mojitos and the occasional member of staff bursting into spontaneous bursts of salsa dancing. Of course it’s a very thin veneer, but Montecristo is nonetheless busy enough most nights to create a decent atmosphere. There’s not a great deal of seating, so get settled early if you don’t want to be left standing. The upstairs remains open in case an escape route is required.
