Moscow State Conservatory
With a statue of Tchaikovsky outside, this concert hall is heavily associated with the composer and is sometimes known as the Moscow ‘Tchaikovsky’ Conservatory.
rn
rnThere are three auditoriums, which have some of the best acoustics in Moscow. The main Great Hall has one of the world’s largest organs and a high balcony, above which are hanging portraits of the world’s greatest composers. There is also the ‘Small Hall’ music chamber and a third called ‘Rachmaninoff’ – these are both somewhat airless, but very comfortable.
rn
rnThere are several hundred concerts in these halls each year. Tickets are sold in the foyer before concerts (you should expect to pay 4-500 roubles).
