Musée Rodin
The Rodin Museum is set in a superb hotel particulier, which has housed nuns, artists and dancers since it was built in 1728. It is now one of the most charming museums in Paris, dedicated to the life and work of Auguste Rodin, with a permanent collection that includes The Kiss, The Thinker, The Walking Man, many terracotta busts and figures, and thousands of drawings and prints. Rodin’s work is accompanied by a number of pieces by his mistress and pupil Camille Claudel; among the artwork he donated to the state before his death are paintings by Van Gogh, Renoir and Monet. There are more epoch-making sculptures in the gardens, which are indescribably romantic.
