Museo de Arte Colonial

Museo de Arte Colonial is set in a 17th-century building which used to be a Jesuit college and a national library before being turned into one of the Bogotá museums in 1942. Inside are paintings, woodcarvings, furniture, jewellery, books and documents from the Colonial period, as well as a significant art collection that comprises over 70 oil paintings and 100 drawings by Gregorio Vasquez de Arce y Ceballos, one of the great painters from the period. Also housed at the museum are colonial chalices, crowns and sceptres from across Latin America.
