Napoleon House
The Napoleon House defines the perfect bar: it’s dark as a cave inside, the drinks are good, and the company of locals and visitors is congenial. The bartenders mix a near-perfect Pimm’s Cup, a British-bred cocktail of Pimm’s liqueur, lemonade, and club soda garnished with a cucumber round. Some New Orleanians even look forward to summer so that they have an excuse to down the low-octane drink. The building is an antique treasure, and the bar is a fine perch from which to watch the people strolling by on Chartres Street. The Napoleon House also serves a warm muffuletta sandwich that many prefer to the classic version at Central Grocery.
