National Art Museum
Built in 1963, the façade of the National Art Museum of China is meant to be a modern interpretation of classical Chinese symmetry. It has 13 exhibition halls and a collection of 60,000 works with an emphasis on traditional Chinese art. The new museum director, Fan Dian is credited with raising the profile of the museum and attracting major exhibitions such as Turner from the Tate Collection, in collaboration with the Tate Britain in London. NAMOC also has a wonderful collection of Chinese Folk Art including dolls, embroidery, kites and pottery. This is a great place to get introduced to the arts in China.
