New York Bar
There’s no avoiding it. There are three words that will most likely spring to mind repeatedly during any first-time visit to Tokyo: ‘lost’, ‘in’ and ‘translation’. Cultural confusion and linguistic meltdown are undoubtedly a rite of passage for many visitors – as Scarlett and Bill know only too well – and there is no better place to ponder this conundrum than the 52nd floor of the Tokyo Park Hyatt.
Otherwise known as the hotel from ‘That Film’, it was in the sultry confines its New York Bar that Bill spent time pondering the meaning of life. Not to mention drinking. Ask the barman to rustle up an L.I.T. (yes, named after That Film), which mixes Japanese sake with a cherry blossom ‘sakura’ liqueur. Suitably inspired by the backdrop of live jazz and sophisticated cocktail menu, do a Scarlett and Bill while staring meaningfully at the complicated city unfolding endlessly through the double-height wall of glass windows.
